
First randomisation of EVMs/VVPATs to be held on March 23

First randomization of EVMs/VVPATs in Tiruvarur and Thanjavur districts set for March 23, involving political party representatives.
District Election Officer and Collector V. Mohanachandran has announced that the first randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail machines will be conducted at the Collectorate on March 23 in the presence of recognized political party representatives.
Stating that the list of machines allotted to the four Assembly Constituencies of Thiruthuraipoondi (SC), Mannargudi, Tiruvarur and Nannilam will be given to the recognised political party representatives and the Election Returning Officers and Assistant EROs of the respective constituencies after the randomisation, the DEO said these machines will be stored in the strong rooms allotted for each constituency.
After finalisation of the candidate list of each constituency, the candidates would receive the list of EVMs/VVPATs, he said in a press release on March 20.
On Friday, the DEO inspected the functioning of an election flying squad posted on Mannargudi-Needamangalam Road at Kuruvaimozhi area in Mannargudi Assembly segment. He inquired about how they were conducting the checks and whether proper records about the vehicle checks were maintained by them.
Meanwhile, the District Election Officer and Thanjavur Collector, B. Priyanka Pankajam has announced that the first randomization exercise for allotment of EVMs/VVPATs for the eight Assembly segments of Thiruvidaimaruthur (SC), Kumbakonam, Papanasam, Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur, Orathanadu, Pattukottai and Peravurani in Thanjavur district will be held on March 23 at the District Collectorate.
