The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 60 kg mephedrone drug worth more than Rs 120 crore from Mumbai and Gujarat. Six people, including a former Air India pilot have been arrested.

The kingpin of the cartel has been identified as Sohail Gaffar Mahida, a former Air India pilot and Mithi Pichaidas, who was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) earlier. Sohail Gaffar Mahida was a pilot from 2016 to 2018 and later left the job on medical grounds.
Acting on a tip-off, NCB recovered approx 50 kg of MD drugs concealed in a godown in Mumbai. Officials from the NCB headquarters in Delhi and its Mumbai zonal unit conducted a raid at Jamnagar on October 3 and seized 10 kg of mephedrone.
The action was taken based on specific information received by the Naval Intelligence unit at Jamnagar in Gujarat, Sanjay Singh, Deputy Director General of the NCB was quoted by PTI as saying.

On October 3, a raid was conducted in Gujarat's Jamnagar in which 10 kg mephedrone was seized. Following the raid, the NCB team had arrested one person from Jamnagar and three more were held from Mumbai in this connection.
