The DU's academic council will consider the proposal to establish a centre to offer job-oriented courses.
A proposal for establishing a centre for offering job-oriented courses for students in Delhi University’s Campus of Open Learning is going to be taken up in an academic council meeting scheduled on March 22.
The Campus of Open Learning Director Payal Mago further informed that courses will be skill based and tailored according to the students’ need to boost their employability.
Payal Mago went on to state,“This centre will house a media centre and will provide online and experiential learning courses to students.”
“To enhance the employability of students of the School of Open Learning (SOL), there will be skills-based courses and tailored as per their needs,” she added.
Giving an example of several SOL students who were studying for their graduation, while also managing their family businesses, she said that the centre might also offer a course running a family business while increasing profitability.
She added, “Students will also get to learn basic computer skills and some languages that will help them.”
The centre will be offering the three diploma courses at its start, which are journalism (English and Hindi), a post-graduate diploma in library automation services, and mushroom cultivation.
