The alert loco pilots, R.R. Kumar and S. Kundu’s timely emergency brakes saved the elephant from being hit by the train.

An elephant was saved from being run over in North Bengal after a timely emergency break from the loco pilots on the train. The video shared by the Divisional Railway Manager of North Bengal has garnered praise from netizens.

The video shows an elephant appearing dangerously close to the railway tracks. However, the alert loco pilots, R.R. Kumar and S. Kundu’s timely emergency brakes saved the jumbo from being hit by the train and getting injured gravely.

“LP & ALP of 15767 Up SGUJ-APDJ Intercity Exp Sri R.R. Kumar & S. Kundu suddenly noticed a wild elephant crossing the track at KM 23/1 between Gulma-Sivok at 17.35 hrs yesterday & applied brakes to control train speed, saving wildlife,” explained the caption.

The video is swiftly gaining views and was retweeted by the Twitter profile of the Northeast Frontier Railway as well.

Previously, in a similar incident that took place between Nagrakata-Chalsa, in Jalpaiguri district in North Bengal, a wild elephant was saved thanks to the timely emergency brake pulled by loco pilots.
