Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan to lay foundation for road development in ITDA Paderu region, benefiting tribal communities.
Scores of interior habitations from various mandals under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Paderu region of Alluri Sitharama Raju district are going to get the road facility. Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan will be laying foundation stone for the development of roads in various mandals, in a programme which is going to be held at Ballagaruvu in Ananthagiri mandal on Saturday. Most of these roads are being laid in view of ‘doli’ issue.
Ananthagiri mandal is expected to be most benefited among the other mandals. Under Panchayat Raj funds, about 16.5 km BT Road from Samedha to Chintapaka via Thattapudi, Chindugulupadu, Pedaburuga of Pinakota Panchayat in Ananthagiri mandal with a budget of ₹17 crore, about 5.49 km road between Gummanthi and Reddipalem with ₹5.86 crore will be laid. Under the Tribal Welfare Department, a gravel road will be laid between Rajapaka and Dekkapuram with a budget of ₹2.40 crore. This apart, another 1.56 km of road will be laid between Gangavaram – Valabu R&B Road and Devarapalli – Pedakota R&B Road with a budget of ₹59 lakh under Panchayat Raj funds. The connectivity is believed to resolve transportation issues, especially ‘doli’ issues to the tribals, in a number of interior villages of Ananthagiri mandal.
“Earlier, tribals from the villages surrounding Pinakota used to depend on horses or mules to travel. People with health issues used to suffer a lot, while doli deaths were frequent. A number of protests were organised. These roads will connect many interior hamlets and will benefit the tribals a lot,” CPI(M) activist K, Govind Rao said.
This apart, under Panchayat Raj funds, four-km road between Jampalova-Galikonda and M. Busikonda of Galikonda panchayat in G.K Veedhi mandal, two-km road from Gattum to Galipadu in Hukumpeta mandal, 1.50 km road between Puligonda and Lakkavaram in Chintapalli mandal and a few other areas are also going to be laid.
Led by Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar, the ASR police have made strict security arrangements for the Deputy CM’s visit.
