Delhi CM Rekha Gupta calls for social movement to combat obesity crisis in India, proposes 'Mission Obesity Care'.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday (May 11, 2025) called for a social movement to tackle the growing obesity crisis in India, stressing that prevention is the “cheapest and most effective” solution.

Speaking at the ‘National Obesity Care Conference’ at the India International Centre, Ms. Gupta proposed a public-private initiative titled ‘Mission Obesity Care’ aimed at raising awareness and driving coordinated action. She also praised mothers and doctors on the occasion of Mother’s Day, calling them the two essential pillars of life.
“Today, when we are honouring 400 women doctors, it is not just an event, but an expression of our respect and gratitude towards women’s power. Their contribution to the country’s healthcare system is invaluable, and we are proud of them,” she said.
