A minor girl, who was allegedly abducted and gangraped last month, died by suicide in UP's Ambedkar Nagar. The family alleged that the victim ended her life as police failed to take action.
Days after a minor was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped, a girl died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh's Ambedkar Nagar district on Thursday. The family of the victim alleged that the girl took the extreme step due to the alleged police inaction in the case.
The district administration has suspended sub-inspector Pramod Kumar and removed the station house officer (SHO) of the police station concerned for the alleged dereliction of duty. A three-member committee has been formed and the matter will be investigated by top senior officials, including Chief District Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Sub Divisional Magistrate.
The incident happened in Kandipur village within Malipur police station limits. The girl's father alleged that his daughter was kidnapped by a few people on September 16 and was taken to Lucknow. The girl was gangraped on September 18, the family alleged.
The victim's father said, "The teenager somehow managed to return home and told us about what happened to her. She told her that she knew one of the accused involved and we informed the police about the same. The police recorded her statement and a medical examination was also done but no arrests have been made so far."

"The police and administration did not pay attention to the case. The girl had stated that she would end her life if the case was not taken seriously," he added.
The body of the girl was sent for a post-mortem examination after the family was assured that action would be taken in the case.
