A cyclonic circulation that has formed over the Bay of Bengal is likely to cause heavy rainfall in Odisha.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Saturday and said heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Odisha over the next few days due to the formation of a cyclonic circulation over the east-central Bay of Bengal.
The cyclonic circulation is likely to trigger the formation of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal around Tuesday, said the Met office.
Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy died in Uttar Pradesh’s Deori after a wall of his kutcha house collapsed following rains in the district.
In Odisha, the weatherman predicted heavy rain in a few areas across Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kendrapara and Kandhamal districts on Sunday.
A yellow alert for heavy showers across coastal and southern parts of the state was issued for Monday by the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre. It also forecast torrential rain in many districts on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Fisherfolk have been directed not to go into the deep-sea areas.
Incessant heavy rainfall in Maharashtra has led to waterlogging in several areas of Thane. Railway tracks at the Thane Railway station have been submerged in the rain water.
