CM will make Tirupati a sports hub: SAAP chairman

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu aims to transform Tirupati into a sports, cultural, and tourism hub, with ongoing development projects.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is determined to make Tirupati a hub for sports, cultural and tourism in the State, said Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) chairman Ravi Naidu on Friday (March 14).
Along with District Collector S. Venkateswar and Municipal Commissioner N. Mourya, he inspected the cricket ground development works at Gollavani Gunta in Tirupati.
Speaking to the media later, he said various various programmes have been launched in Tirupati district in sports, education, medical tourism and other sectors after the formation of the NDA government. He added that almost 80% ofthe Srinivasa Sports Complex has been completed.
“If the Gollavani Gunta sports ground becomes available, many sportspersons can be produced from this district. The integrated sports complex is being built for local sports such as kabaddi, kho kho, volleyball and others. The pitch for cricket will be fully accessible to players soon.”
Mr. Venkateswar said: “Gollavani Gunta cricket ground is being developed as part of the Smart City in Autonagar. The ground work is almost complete and works on the pavilion with a seating capacity of 65 and the gallery with a seating capacity of 315 is in progress. The total value of all the projects is ₹6 crore.” he said, adding that work worth ₹1.5 crore is yet to be completed.
“The SAAP has sanctioned an additional ₹2 crore for the construction of the integrated sports complex. We are taking steps to make the cricket pitch available by this month itself. The remaining work will be completed on time and handed over to SAAP. Its revenue will be used on its own development,” he informed.
Works like dry stone pitching, walking track, railing, bund lighting and horticulture development works, three-pitch cricket ground, high mast lighting, grass turfing, drains and pavilion will be completed on time, the District Collector said.
