Special prayers mark Id-ul-Fitr celebrations

Muslims in Tiruchi celebrated Id-ul-Fitr with special prayers, community gatherings, and donations for the needy.
Muslims celebrated Id-ul-Fitr, the festival that signifies the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, by participating in congregational prayers across Tiruchi and other central districts on Saturday.
A large number of families gathered at the Uzhavar Sandhai grounds at Anna Nagar in the city for the Id prayers. A large number of Muslims attended the prayers at Khajamalai, Palakkarai and other designated grounds and mosques in the city.
K.M. Khader Mohideen, national president, Indian Union Muslim League, spoke on the significance of Ramzan fasting and Id-ul-Fitr at the special prayers held at the Cantonment Idgah. Abdul Rahman, former MP, was present.
Special prayers were held at the Big Chowk Jamia Mosque, Hazrath Natharwali Dargah Mosque, Thennur General Bazar Mosque, Thennur Highroad Mosque, Khajanagar Arabic College Mosque, and Jamal Mohamad College Mosque.
Religious orators urged nations to work towards a peaceful future. They prayed for the safety of the Indian families and workers who had inadvertently been caught in the West Asian war.
Many worshippers took the opportunity before the prayers to make donations (known as Zakat al-Fitr) to needy people in the vicinity.
