25 police peronnel honoured for swift arrest of suspect in teenaged girl murder case

Twenty-five police officers recognized for their swift actions in the arrest of a suspect in a teenage girl's murder case.

Twenty-five police personnel have been presented certificates in recognition of their efforts in catching the suspect involved in the murder of a 17-year-old girl from a village under Kulathur police limits.

The certificates were presented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirunelveli Range, P. Saravanan on Friday at the DIG office in Tirunelveli.

After the teenager was found murdered, a case was registered on Wednesday (March 11). The suspect identified as M. Dharma Muneeswaran alias Maveeran, 38, from Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram district was arrested on Thursday (March 19) and remanded.

A total of 10 teams comprising four Deputy Superintendents of Police and six Inspectors were deployed for the investigation. The accused was arrested purely on the basis of evidence gathered through scientific methods, including tower dumping and CCTV footage, said Superintendent of Police, Thoothukudi, C. Madhan at a press conference.

Mr. Saravanan appreciated the police personnel involved in solving the challenging case.

The police personnel who received certificates of appreciation were Inspectors of police stations across the district: A. Sakthivel of Vilathikulam, M. Umamaheshwari of Eppodhumvendran, Ashok Babu of Sankaralingapuram, I. Rajesh of Pudur, Kasipandian of Thoothukudi North, Hariharan of Murappanadu, K. Navaneethakrishnan of Kovilpatti West, Syrus of Tharuvaikulam, S.N. Thileeban of Arumuganeri, Pavul Yesudhasan of Masarpatti and Shanthi of Cyber Crime.
