Siddipet police officer dies after surgeries; family files negligence case against hospital as investigation begins.
A 60-year-old police officer serving in the Siddipet Commissionerate died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city, with the Madhapur police registering a case following a complaint by his family.
The deceased, identified as Tallapalli Raja Sambayya, who was working as a Reserve Sub-Inspector, had been admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Hitec City on March 7 for treatment of lumps on his hip.
According to Madhapur Inspector D. Krishna Mohan, during the course of treatment, he was diagnosed with moyamoya disease, a progressive, chronic condition involving the narrowing of arteries in the brain. The doctors performed brain surgery on March 10. Later the same day, following complications, a second brain surgery was carried out.
Despite continued treatment, doctors confirmed that he passed away on March 20.
Based on a complaint lodged by his wife, Tallapalli Tirupatamma, the Madhapur police on Saturday registered a case of negligence against the hospital and initiated an investigation.
The body was shifted to the Osmania Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and was subsequently handed over to the family. Further investigation is on into the circumstances leading to the death.
