Observer, Collector review arrangements at counting centre in Gobichettipalayam

Officials review counting arrangements in Gobichettipalayam, ensuring facilities and infrastructure are ready for the election process.
The General observer for the Gobichettipalayam and Bhavanisagar (SC) Assembly constituencies, Uma Shankar Gupta, along with the District Election Officer and Collector, S. Kandasamy, reviewed arrangements at the counting centre at the Government Arts and Science College, Gobichettipalayam, on Saturday (March 21, 2026).
While votes polled in the constituencies of Erode (East), Erode (West), Perundurai, Modakkurichi, Anthiyur, and Bhavani will be counted at the Government College of Engineering, Chithode, votes polled in the Gobichettipalayam and Bhavanisagar constituencies will be counted at Gobichettipalayam.
The officials inspected the strong rooms where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be stored, as well as facilities for counting postal ballots and EVM votes. Basic amenities, including drinking water, sanitation, and other essential infrastructure at the counting venue, were also examined.
They also visited polling stations at St. Mary’s High School, Kolappalur, where they reviewed the availability of drinking water, electricity supply, toilet facilities for men and women, and ramps to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities.
The inspection was aimed at ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the smooth and orderly conduct of the election process.
