Waterfront development of over 9 km planned to rejuvenate city’s commercial, residential hubs
The Marine Drive in Kochi will be extended and developed up to Vaduthala if the State Government has its way.
“The identified project area starts from Marine Drive and Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary in the southern part to Cheranalloor grama panchayat in the north, including Vaduthala, Pachalam area and the Mulavukad island on the eastern side across the backwaters,” according to a proposal under the consideration of the government.
“The proposed development of the Marine Drive would be in the form of a looped waterfront development along Queensway-Pachalam-Vaduthala-Mulavukkad stretch with a total length of 9.1 km. This would include a bridge as well for circular connectivity,” reads the project proposal.
A crowd comprising farmers, researchers, professors, students, and horticulture enthusiasts thronged the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru, on Friday for the inaugural ceremony of the Triphal Diversity Show which showcased 300 mango, 100 jackfruit, and 100 banana genotypes in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirappalli.
The State government on Friday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Additional Director-General of Police, Manish Kharbikar of the Economic Offences division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to probe the alleged multi-crore scam in the government-run Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
