Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launches book on women in police, advocating for reforms and enhanced gender inclusivity in law enforcement.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday released two publications at the B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, including a book on the 1st Telangana Conference for Women in Police and the RBVRR TGPA Annual Magazine 2025.

Senior officers present on the occasion included DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy, along with others, including Abhilasha Bisht, Shikha Goel, Swati Lakra, Charu Sinha, Vijay Kumar, N. Shwetha, Rakshitha K. Murthy and K. Shilpavalli, along with deputy directors and other officials of the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy.

The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative taken by the academy in organising the three-day conference held from August 20 to August 22, 2025, and documenting its deliberations and recommendations in book form. He said women personnel were playing an increasingly vital role in policing, including law and order, investigation, traffic management and bandobust duties across the State.

CM Revanth Reddy recommended the formation of a special team to study best practices in women recruitment, retention, training and career progression in states such as Tamil Nadu and directed officials to examine the feasibility of implementing suitable policy measures in Telangana. He instructed the department to undertake a structured study and submit actionable recommendations for policy adoption.

Abhilasha Bisht said the conference, attended by more than 400 women officers from across the State, focused on five priority areas, including infrastructure enhancement, leadership roles, training reforms, increased representation in Armed Reserve and battalions and uniform comfort guidelines.

Among the proposals were dedicated restrooms, crèche facilities, mobile toilet units during bandobust, provision of scooters for patrolling, appointment of women as Station House Officers in police stations, and strengthening co-educational induction training on the lines of IPS and DSP models with emphasis on gender sensitisation.
