A Chandigarh University student was arrested for allegedly leaking obscene videos of hostel inmates. However, the varsity has claimed that there was only one clip, the one of the accused. Here are the top points.
The Punjab Police has arrested a woman student of the Chandigarh University after she allegedly made objectionable videos of hostel inmates public. The action was taken after hostel inmates claimed their videos went viral on the Internet.
Massive protests were held by the college students on Saturday night, claiming objectionable videos have gone public. Protesting students alleged that the accused made videos of girl students while they were taking baths in the hostel.
As the row over leaked videos erupted, the cops swung into action and arrested the girl. However, police refuted the suicide attempt claims made by the protesting students.
1) Soon after the accused was detained, Punjab Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer ordered a thorough probe into the matter. According to police, no suicide attempts or deaths have been reported in connection with this incident.
"As per medical records, no suicide attempt or death has taken place. One student who was taken in an ambulance was suffering from anxiety, and our team is in contact with her," said Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vivek Soni.
2) A girl student, who was one of the students who confronted the accused, told India Today that the accused had placed mobile phones in the washroom and made videos.
