The CBI team along with forensic officials reached the Curlies restaurant on Sunday morning in connection with its probe into Sonali Phogat’s death.
A CBI team on Sunday reached Curlies restaurant in Goa, which has been under scanner following the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. It is alleged that she was drugged at the restaurant situated at Goa’s Anjuna Beach. The CBI team, which is probing the case, reached the Curlies restaurant on Sunday morning and started recording the staff’s statements.
A 25-member team of the CBI and forensic officials collected evidence from the restaurant as a part of the investigation into the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat.
A day earlier, the officials conducted nine hours of investigation at the hotel Grand Leonny in Goa where Sonali Phogat was staying with her two aides.
Sonali Phogat was declared dead on arrival by doctors at a Goa hospital on August 23. Initially, this was being treated as a case of accidental death due to a heart attack, but further investigation revealed that the BJP leader was drugged by her two associates.
So far, her aides - Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh - have been arrested along with three others in connection with the case.
The probe into Sonali Phogat’s death case was handed over to the CBI after Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) seeking an investigation by the central agency.
