‘Synergy-Based Brain-Machine Interfaces in Human-Robot Collaboration’ was the topic of a faculty-development programme organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Shrimati Indira Gandhi College recently. In his inaugural address, Ramana Vinjamuri, associate professor, Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, University of Maryland, Baltimore, U.S., spoke on innovation at the intersection of engineering, neuroscience, and computer science. He emphasised the transformative potential of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) and neuroprosthetics in addressing complex challenges in healthcare and rehabilitation. College chief executive officer K. Chandrasekharan spoke.
Filmmaker Bharathi Krishnakumar emphasised the importance of discipline and determination for achieving success, while speaking at the College Day of Cauvery College for Women. He inspired students with his thoughts on education, perseverance, and personal growth. As part of the celebrations, faculty members were recognised for their dedicated service and outstanding contributions. A senior faculty member was honoured for completing 25 years of service in the institution. Students achievers from various departments received the Thiripura Sundari award from S. Gopal, president of the College Governing Council.
Sustainable technologies and policy directions for grid integration of electric vehicles (EVs) were the focus of a two-day seminar hosted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chettinad College of Engineering and Technology in Karur, recently. The programme was sponsored by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. In his keynote address, S. Albert Alexander,professor, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, VIT University, Vellore, spoke on efficient energy management, and the need for robust policy frameworks to ensure seamless integration of EVs into the power grid. He encouraged students and researchers to contribute innovative solutions for India’s growing EV ecosystem.
The undergraduate engineering programmes at Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukottai — B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering — have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, for three years. The college, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, is accredited with an ‘A+’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
The 15th annual issue of Pekak Plumes, the student magazine of A.V.C. College in Mayiladuthurai, was released by J. E. Indra, assistant professor of English Studies at the Central University of Tamil Nadu, Tiruvarur recently. The first copy of the magazine was received by principal R. Nagarajan.
N. Saravana Kumar, vice-chairman, Delhi Development Authority, spoke on the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence, data science, and renewable energy in India’s economy, while addressing the 38th convocation ceremony of Thanthai Hans Roever College in Perambalur recently. The speaker said that being from a rural background was a strength, as it builds resilience and adaptability, and advised teachers to prepare students for life rather than just examinations. K. Varadharaajen, founder and chairman, Roever Group of Educational Institutions, spoke. A total of 25 university rank holders were presented with medals for their academic achievements. Over 600 students received their degrees at the convocation.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
