Bombay HC grants 45-day parole to jailed gangster Arun Gawli for wife's surgery

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has granted 45-day parole to gangster Arun Gawli on the ground of his wife's ill-health.

The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court (HC) has granted 45-day parole to gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli alias Daddy on the ground of his wife's ill-health. A division bench of Justices ZA Haq and Amit Borkar allowed the parole plea filed by Arun Gawli and directed the jail authorities to release him. Arun Gawli is serving a life sentence for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar. Arun Gawli is behind bars since his arrest in 2008. He was convicted by a trial court in 2012 and his conviction was upheld by the high court in 2019. It is said that Arun Gawli was allegedly paid Rs 30 lakh by Jamsandekar's business and political rivals, Sahebrao Bhintade and Bala Surve.
