Issues on women’s rights and empowerment discussed
Ekta Resource Centre for Women on Saturday conducted panel discussions on the issues pertaining to women’s rights and empowerment as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.
Director of Ekta Resource Centre for Women Bimla Chandrasekaran highlighted the significance of the theme of the event ‘Give to Gain’, emphasising the importance of collective contribution, solidarity, and continuous efforts towards achieving gender equality and empowering women across all sections of society.
The programme brought together experts, activists, and participants to deliberate on key issues concerning women’s rights and empowerment. The theme emphasised that meaningful social progress was built through contribution, mutual support and collective action.
The topics discussed at the programmes included: Advancing the Rights of Women with Disabilities, Using Progressive Judgments for grassroots advocacy, Engaging with Women-Centric Laws, Addressing caste-based discrimination and honour-based violence, Women’s Rights to Community Resources, Leveraging Education for Women’s Empowerment, Entrepreneurship for Women’s Rights Advancement, Power of Women’s Writings in shaping policy, Mental Health and Women’s Rights
Each session highlighted the practical strategies for inclusive policies, leadership development, legal awareness, and social transformation, said a press release.

Stating that the High Court of Karnataka has stayed two of the four conditions imposed by the Dakshina Kannada Regional Transport Authority regrading permits to operate electric autorickshaws in Mangaluru, Youth Electrical Auto Chalakara Sangha, Mangaluru, on Saturday, urged the RTA to extend the March 31 deadline to apply for permits.
