A Bengaluru-based techie has claimed that he built an AI tool to solve a common Indian wedding dilemma, which is choosing the wrong dishes from an overflowing buffet.
Pankaj, a software professional from Bengaluru, shared the idea in a post on X, calling Indian wedding buffets “a scam” where guests often walk away wishing they had made better food choices.
To address the problem, he said he built BuffetGPT, an AI agent designed to scan an entire buffet and generate a personalised eating “game plan”.
Pankaj said that the tool uses computer vision to identify every dish on the buffet and then optimises what to eat, what to skip and how much to consume.
The recommendations, he added, are based on “actual stomach volume physics”. The project is still in an early stage and has been tested only as an alpha version at a friend’s wedding, where it delivered what he described as “decent results”.
“Honestly, this is what my computer science degree was for,” Pankaj said.
