Twitter's efforts towards establishing a social audio app are evident, and it is now being reported that the company, before coming up with its own platform, tried to acquire Clubhouse for a total of $4 billion.
Twitter is interested in gaining a foothold in the social audio space where the recent sensational app Clubhouse operates. For this, the microblogging platform has already started building its own version of the app, but before it did so, it reportedly discussed acquiring Clubhouse. A new report by Bloomberg sheds light on the discussion. As per the report, Twitter attempted to acquire the audio app for a total sum of around $4 billion. The discussions since then have reportedly stalled. The report also does not mention which of the firms approached the other for the possible takeover. A clue on the same would have given us a hint of how the players assume their role in the social audio space to be.
