Tragic car-van collision on Jagtial-Karimnagar highway kills baby boy, injures groom and others from Nanded heading to wedding.
Tragedy struck a group of people from Nanded heading to a marriage. A three-month-old baby boy was killed and six of its members — including the bridegroom — were injured in a car-van collision on the Jagtial-Karimnagar highway near Kondagattu in Jagtial district in the wee hours of Thursday (June 5, 2025).
The ghastly accident took place when a speeding mango-laden van rammed into the car carrying the marriage party from Nanded in Maharashtra to Huzurabad in Karimnagar district at around 4 a.m.
The baby boy died on the spot and the six other occupants of the car — including the 24-year-old groom Mahesh — sustained injuries under the impact of the crash, police said. The injured persons were shifted to a hospital in Jagtial and their condition is stated to be stable.
A case was registered and further investigation is underway. According to sources, the tragic incident brought the wedding, slated to be held in Huzurabad on Thursday afternoon, to an abrupt halt.
