Around 11 lakh eligible for Covid-19 precautionary dose in Assam; state rolls out booster shots

Assam has started giving precautionary vaccine doses to around 11 lakh eligible beneficiaries amid a sharp surge in coronavirus infections.
Amid a surge of Covid-19 cases, Assam has also started inoculating the third or the precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine to all health workers, frontline workers and citizens above 60 years suffering from comorbidities from Monday. India has started administering booster shots to these groups from today when coronavirus infections in the country are on a steep upward trajectory.
The state has around 11 lakh eligible beneficiaries, including 5 lakh health workers and frontline workers. The Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has set up separate vaccination centres for giving precautionary doses of Covid-19 vaccine to all health workers, frontline workers and elderly people.
