Andhra Pradesh’s chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the road repair work that is going on across the state on Wednesday.

Andhra Pradesh’s chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the road repair work that is underway across the state on Wednesday. He directed the officials to speed up the work and asked them to set up a photo gallery showing the before and after pictures of the roads.

The chief minister attended a review meeting and said that road repairs are being taken up in a planned manner. He said that opposition parties are trying to mislead people and advised the authorities to create awareness among the public on how much the government has spent on road repairs. The officials were told to focus on finding a permanent solution to the bridges and culverts that were damaged during the Nivar cyclone in 2020.

The officials gave a detailed explanation of where the money for the project is going and said that first phase works will be completed by August. Several roads will be repaired according to phases.

The authorities said that works under NDB phase-1 will start by the end of May, where 1244 km of roads will be developed at an expenditure of Rs 3014 crore. Similarly, under NDB phase-2 which will start in December 2022, 1268 km of roads are to be developed at a cost of Rs 3386 crore. For national highways, a total of 99 works are underway, where a 3079.94 km stretch is being expanded by 10 metres at a cost of Rs 30,000 crore.

In addition to these, another six projects at a cost of Rs 15,875 crore are taken up for improving the inter-state connectivity. This includes the developing Bangalore-Chennai, Chittoor-Chennai, Raipur-Visakhapatnam, Solapur-Kurnool, Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, Nagpur-Vijayawada roads.
