Akshay Kumar can’t keep calm as he recreated his father-in-law, Rajesh Khanna’s iconic role from the film, Bawarchi. Akshay also wrote a sweet note about playing his hero on screen.

Akshay Kumar recreated his late father-in-law, Rajesh Khanna’s iconic role from the film, Bawarchi, in a new advertisement. The actor is delighted to play his idol on screen. The actor wrote an emotional note remembering his late father-in-law. Bawarchi was released in 1972 and starred Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles.

Akshay Kumar always remembers his late father-in-law, Rajesh Khanna. Like many others, Akshay also considers Rajesh his idol. The Sooryanshi actor can’t keep calm as he recreated the late actor’s popular scene from his super hit film, Bawarchi, in an advertisement. In the clip, Akshay can be seen dressed as a cook, similar to Rajesh's character in the 1972 film.

Taking to Twitter, Akshay said, “Very rarely do we get a chance in life to play our hero on screen! Is #ad ko karte huye mujhe wohi khushi mili. Fondly remembering my late father-in-law whose iconic character in Bawarchi inspired me to do this (sic).”

Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Bawarchi starred Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan in lead roles with Asrani, A.K. Hangal, Usha Kiran and Durga Khote in supporting roles. Bawarchi was a remake of the Bengali film Galpo Holeo Satti (1966) by Tapan Sinha which starred Rabi Ghosh. The film was later remade in Tamil and Kannada languages too.

Rajesh Khanna breathed his last in 2012. He was 69 years old. He was the first superstar of Indian cinema. The actor made his debut in 1966 with Aakhri Khat, which was also India's first official Oscar Entry in 1967. Rajesh starred in critically acclaimed films like Anand, Kati Patang, Namak Haram, Bawarchi and more.
