AI so good at coding, coders now have to look for some other career: Sridhar Vembu
India Today
AI seems to be getting better at coding almost everyday. After Anthropic's latest Claude Opus 4.6 model created a C compiler from scratch, Zoho cofounder Sridhar Vembu believes that coders might want to look at other career options.
The past few days have been quite tough for humans when compared to AI. Anthropic’s Claude Cowork took away billions of dollars in market cap from SaaS companies like TCS from the stock market, and now the AI firm’s Claude Opus 4.6 model has created a C compiler from scratch. At a time when tech companies are laying off workers over this AI boom, Zoho cofounder Sridhar Vembu believes that coders may want to start looking at new career options.
On X, Vembu quoted a post of a user who created a Bhagavad Gita app created with AI. The user, Anish Moonka, stated that he did not know how to write a code, but with AI tools from Anthropic and OpenAI, he was able to finish the app within a week.
Sridhar Vembu cited this as an example of “AI-assisted Code Engineering productivity.” The Zoho chief also pointed to Anthropic's accomplishment of building a full C compiler using Claude Opus 4.6. He wrote, “That is not an easy engineering feat at all.”
Sridhar Vembu accepted that considering the advancements of AI in coding, it was time to look at new career options. But he did not want coders to be worried.
He explained, "At this point, it is best for those of us who depend on writing code for a living to start considering alternative livelihoods. I include myself in this. I don't say this in panic, but with calm acceptance and embrace." Sridhar Vembu believes it's time for coders to look at other careers.
Vembu’s comments come at a time when several prominent tech personalities have accepted that the era of writing code manually may be over, including NodeJS creator Ryan Dahl. The Zoho chief described a session with Google’s Gemini Pro, where he discussed how the AI revolution could reshape the economy.

Samsung has been teasing its upcoming A-series devices since last week, without officially revealing their names. While speculation has largely pointed to the Galaxy A37 and A57, a lengthy video recently surfaced ahead of any official confirmation, revealing the key specs and pricing of the devices.

Students who appeared for the Bihar School Examination Board Class 12 exams can now access their results through multiple platforms, including the India Today Board Results page for smoother and quicker access. With heavy traffic expected on official websites, this alternative option ensures students can check their scores without delays or technical glitches.

After fight with US Military, Anthropic starts searching for policy expert on weapons and explosives
Anthropic, the AI startup that found itself at odds with the Pentagon over unrestricted AI use, is now looking for an expert in chemical weapons and explosives. However, the company is not planning to build such weapons, but instead wants to formulate its policy in regard to weapons.
