AAP to contest from all 224 seats in State: Prithvi Reddy

‘After the Punjab results, AAP is being seen as a new hope for change in the existing corrupt system’

Not just ordinary people but several important persons, who have made a name for themselves in various fields are looking at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today. “People have now realised that AAP is the party that genuinely works for the common people and has given alternate politics to our nation that focuses on clean and efficient administration. As a result, many more people are joining the party fold today,” said AAP State President Prithvi Reddy.

Speaking at a function organised to welcome new joiners at the party office in Mysuru on Monday evening, Mr. Reddy said, “After the Punjab results, AAP is being seen as a new hope for change in the existing corrupt system”.

Mr. Reddy said that when he asked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal when AAP should contest elections in Karnataka, Mr. Kejriwal replied, “This is not a decision to be made in Delhi or by party office-bearers. This decision will be taken by the people of Karnataka when they want the same benefits which people of Delhi are getting and that is because the people gave a chance to all other parties and have been disappointed.” He added that the time is now ripe for this change.

Mr. Reddy said that AAP will be contesting all 224 seats in 2023. “The need of the hour is to strengthen the party at grass-root level and hence people from various fields are joining the party,” he added.

Among those who joined include Dharmashree, a law graduate from an influential family. She now has multiple businesses - like Fuels on Wheels, Sangram Services, etc. She was involved in various activities in government schools through Lions Club. She is the daughter of Sangram Singh, retired police officer, and granddaughter of Late Dharam Singh, former CM of Karnataka. She said that she recently visited Delhi where she personally saw and also spoke to common people to verify the facilities provided by the AAP government. “I was fully convinced and hence am joining AAP,” she said.

Akram Shariff, former SDPI Corporator, said he too was convinced that only AAP can give what is promised in our Constitution to the people. Girish Machalli, a stage artist and an activist, said that only AAP has that kind of vision and hence he too was joining the party.

Mr. Reddy said that he was now convinced that people of Mysuru are now ready to take to the streets and bring in the revolution which the people of Punjab have ushered in their State. “If people want the kind of education, health services and basic infrastructure as available to Delhi citizens, then our volunteers must reach the message of AAP to every house in their constituency,” he said.
