Four kids of Indian origin were among the five winners at a major science and engineering competition for middle-school students in the US. A 14-year-old Indian boy, Akilan Sankaran, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, walked away with the top award -- the coveted USD 25,000 Samueli Foundation Prize.
The competition titled Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering for Rising Stars), a programme of the Society for Science, inspires middle school students to follow their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) passions through to exciting college and career paths.
