12 BJP leaders in Bihar have been granted Y-category security amid violent protests in the state against the Agnipath scheme.
The centre has decided to provide Y-category security to a dozen BJP leaders in Bihar amid violent protests against the Agnipath scheme. Protesters have burnt trains, vandalised public property demanding a rollback of the army recruitment scheme.
BJP leaders who have been provided with CRPF security include state BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal, both Deputy CMs Tar Kishore Prasad and Renu Devi, BJP MLAs Hari Bhushan Thakur, Sanjay Saraogi, Sanjeev Chaurasiya, Gopal Jee Thakur, BJP MLCs Ashok Agarwal and Dilip Jaiswal.
The centre took the decision after the residence of state BJP chief Sanjay Jaiswal and Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi was attacked by angry protesters in Bettiah on Friday.

Following this, Jaiswal had attacked the Nitish Kumar government alleging that during the Agnipath protests, only BJP leaders were being selectively targeted in Bihar. He also alleged that the cops did not make the slightest effort to stop the mob during the attacks. A BJP office in Nawada was also vandalised by protesters.
Bihar has witnessed the worst of the raging protests against the Agnipath scheme, as rampaging mobs set fire to dozens of railway coaches, engines and stations and torched BJP offices, vehicles and other property.
Over 200 trains have been cancelled in the state as protesters target railway stations and train tracks. Internet services have been suspended in 12 of Bihar's 38 districts.
