As CoA began its admission process as part of Ambedkar University, eleven DU teachers sought intervention from Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh via a letter.
Eleven teachers from the Delhi Univeristy’s Academics for Action and Development sought ‘necessary intervention’ from DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh via a letter after the College of Art (CoA) began its admission process as a part of Ambedkar University. CoA provides both undergraduate and postgraduate bachelor’s courses in fine art.
In their letter, the 11 teachers including the members of DU’s Executive Council (EC) and Academic Council (AC) stated that an ‘unfortunate action’ like this is against the Acts and Statutes of Delhi University.
The letter by DU teachers came amidst a continuing tussle amongst DU and the Delhi Government over the art college’s affiliation.
The Delhi government had declared that the concerned CoA would be affiliated with Ambedkar University in March last year, as the college was facing several problems.
The Ambedkar University of Delhi(AUD) is a university funded by the Delhi government.
In the last academic session, the CoA could not hold admissions because of an issue with affiliation.
Ambedkar University had recently conducted a meeting in which it had announced that admissions to CoA will start as a part of the AUD, according to DU academic council member Alok Pandey.
