Karnataka government allocates ₹40 lakh for 20 Kambalas in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts to support traditional events.
The government of Karnataka has released ₹40 lakh to 20 Kambalas in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, according to Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, president, Karnataka State Kambala Association, Udupi.
Mr. Shetty said that the 20 Kambalas are being held regularly since more than 10 years. Organising each Kambala requires an investment ranging between ₹20 lakh and ₹40 lakh.
The government issued an order releasing the fund on January 28, he said. Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports has released the funds to its district offices in Mangaluru and Udupi, as an incentive to Kambala organising committees, Mr. Shetty said on January 30.
From the funds, 16 Kambalas in Dakshina Kannada will get ₹32 lakh, and four Kambalas in Udupi district will get ₹ 8 lakh.
