The left-hander reached his half-century in 13 deliveries at the Barsapara Stadium, narrowly missing Yuvraj’s iconic 12-ball fifty that remains the fastest by an Indian in men’s T20 internationals. Abhishek’s blistering start helped India chase down the target in just 10 overs, sealing an emphatic eight-wicket victory and an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Soon after the innings, Yuvraj took to X to congratulate Abhishek while reminding him who still owns the benchmark. Tagging the opener, he wrote, “Still can’t get a 50 off 12 balls, can you? Well played — keep going strong”.
