Afghanistan cricket stars Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi have condemned the reported Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul that allegedly struck a hospital, causing heavy civilian casualties. The two cricketers voiced their outrage and grief through posts on social media following reports of the attack.
According to Afghan officials, a Pakistani airstrike hit the Omar Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul late Monday night. Reacting to the incident on X, Afghanistan T20I captain Rashid Khan said attacks on civilian infrastructure cannot be justified under any circumstances.
“I am deeply saddened by the latest reports of civilian casualties as a result of Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul,” Rashid wrote.
The star all-rounder stressed that any strike on civilian targets, whether intentional or accidental, amounts to a serious violation of international law.
“Targeting civilian homes, educational facilities or medical infrastructure, either intentional or by mistake, is a war crime. The sheer disregard for human lives, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, is sickening and deeply concerning,” Rashid said.
“I call upon the UN and other human rights agencies to thoroughly investigate this latest atrocity and hold the perpetrators to account. I stand with my Afghan people in this difficult time. We shall heal, and we will rise as a nation. We always do. Inshallah,” he added.
