
Youth electrocuted at mango orchard in Shamshabad

26-year-old software engineer electrocuted while plucking mangoes, wife files complaint, investigation ongoing.
A 26-year-old software engineer was electrocuted allegedly when he was plucking mangoes at a farmland in Peddashapur of Shamshabad on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased, Karri Chetan Reddy, a resident of Ibrahimpatnam, had accompanied his wife, Routhu Bindu, to Bhaskar Law College in Moinabad, where she was appearing for an examination. After the exam concluded, the couple was returning home on a two-wheeler and decided to stop near a mango orchard to pluck a few mangoes.
According to the police, Chetan Reddy entered the orchard and inadvertently came into contact with an exposed transformer wire situated near the compound wall. He was electrocuted and died on the spot. His wife lodged a complaint at the Shamshabad police station. A case was booked and the body was shifted Osmania General Hospital for postmortem examination.
Further investigation is under way.

Devotees of Lord Ayyappa will now have an opportunity to present their own devotional songs at the hill shrine of Sabarimala, thanks to an initiative by the TDB. The temple management board has decided to include newly composed devotional songs by ordinary devotees in the list of songs played through the public address system at the shrine. At present only devotional songs rendered by renowned singers such as K J Yesudas and Jayavijaya are played at Sabarimala, a Travancore Devaswom Board statement said.
