Yamaha has launched the MT-15 Version 2.0, an updated version of the 155cc naked street motorcycle at Rs 1,59,900 (ex-showroom). The biggest changes include the new aluminium rear swingarm and upside-down fork at the front. Yamaha is offering four colours in the MT-15 2.0, including the new Cyan Storm and Racing Blue, as well as Ice Fluo-Vermillion and Metallic Black. The front carries over the LED DRLs and headlamp, and the usual graphics. The front forks come in anodised gold, the 17-inch alloy wheels are available in different colours according to the body colour.
Features wise the Yamaha MT-15 2.0 gets the much-needed update of an LCD display complete with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity. Other features like the traction control system, side-stand engine inhibitor, dual-channel ABS and quick shifter are part of the package.
Power is derived from the same 155cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled motor with VVA that the motorcycle shares with the R15 V4. This engine produces 18.4bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. The 6-speed gearbox coupled with slipper clutch handles the transmission duties.
Speaking on the launch, Eishin Chihana, Yamaha Motor India Chairman, said, “Yamaha Fans have always praised the MT-15 for its impeccable handling and performance but have been eagerly waiting for a more evolved version of the Dark Warrior. The launch of the new MT-15 Version 2.0 is a perfect representation of Yamaha being able to meet its customer expectations, as a part of its ongoing 'The Call of the Blue' brand strategy.”
