There is no doubt that the way we charge smartphones has changed a lot in the last few years. More companies are now focusing on wireless charging technology but, if all things go as planned, Xiaomi’s tech may revolutionise the way smartphones are charged. According to a report by GizChina, Xiaomi has applied for a patent with state agency China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) which suggests that the smartphone maker has been working on a charging technology that can use sound to juice up a device. The new charging tech will reportedly work on two components - a “sound collection device, a plurality of energy conversion devices, and a ‘power conversion device”. Xiaomi’s power conversion device will convert environmental vibration to mechanical vibration, which will then be converted into alternating current.
