Xiaomi may soon launch a new ultra-slim laptop in India. Here is what we know about it so far.
After a week of rumours, it seems like Xiaomi's next laptop is finally taking shape. Xiaomi Book S, as it is suspected to be called, may be the next compact laptop by the company with a 12.4-inch display, and recent spottings suggest that the laptop is close to its market launch.
Hinting at the same, the Xiaomi laptop has now surfaced on the Geekbench and Bluetooth SIG certification websites. Interestingly, the listing of the Xiaomi Book S comes with some impressive numbers. These include a single-core score of 758 points and a multi-core score of 3,014 points on Geekbench. Other indicators of its performance are now out too.
For instance, the Geekbench listing mentions that the Xiaomi Book S will be powered by Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, Qualcomm's chipset for ultra-thin laptops. We can thus expect to see a slim form factor on the device, along with decent everyday performance.
Other information on the Geekbench website shows that the Xiaomi Book S will come with a 12.4-inch display. Its octa-core Snapdragon processor will have a base clock speed of 3.0GHz, while the memory onboard will include 8GB of RAM, at least for one variant. The tested unit ran 64-bit Microsoft Windows 11 Home so we can expect support for the operating system right out of the box.
Other than Geekbench, the laptop has also been seen on the Bluetooth SIG certification website, as mentioned in a report by Gadgets 360. Though this listing does not provide any more information, it does reveal that the new Xiaomi Book S will come with Bluetooth v5.1 support.
Since performance testing of the device has already begun, we can expect Xiaomi to launch the Xiaomi Book S soon. This shall be in line with what tipster Mukul Sharma had suggested earlier. As per Sharma, the launch of the Xiaomi Book S is "imminent," with internal testing of it currently underway in "various Asian countries."
Will it come to India? If it does, how will it be priced? We will share updates on these queries as soon as more information is available on Xiaomi's next laptop. So stay tuned to India Today Tech for more.
