Israel's strikes on 30 Iranian fuel depots went far beyond what the US had anticipated when it was notified in advance, marking the first major disagreement between the two allies since the war began on February 28, Axios reported.
The US and Israel have reportedly clashed over Israel’s large-scale strikes on Iranian oil infrastructure, with a senior US official saying the attacks were “not a good idea” and Washington conveying a blunt message of “WTF” after learning the scale of the operation, Axios reported. This marked the first major disagreement between the two allies since the war began on February 28.

Fresh Israeli airstrikes on Iran on Saturday triggered massive fires across parts of Tehran, with flames visible from miles away and thick smoke engulfing sections of the Iranian capital.
In a statement, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said the targeted fuel depots were used by the Iranian regime to supply fuel to various consumers, including its military units. An Israeli military official said the strikes were also meant to send a warning to Tehran to stop targeting Israeli civilian infrastructure.
However, the scale of the operation has raised concerns in Washington. US officials fear that attacks on facilities linked to everyday civilian use could have unintended consequences, potentially rallying public support within Iran for the government and pushing global oil prices higher.

The profiles of at least three of China's leading nuclear, missile and radar experts were scrubbed from the website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the country's most prestigious academic body. This comes as a series of purges under Premier Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign have decimated the upper echelons of China's military and scientific community.

The aircraft had also been used by senior Iranian officials and military figures for both domestic and international travel, and for coordinating with allied countries, the Israeli military said. Meanwhile, Dubai International Airport has resumed flight operations after a temporary suspension of about seven hours caused by a drone strike near a fuel tank facility.
