A woman has triggered a heated debate on social media after she argued that anyone without at least Rs 5 lakh in savings should put leisure on hold and focus solely on building wealth.
Priya Yadav shared a video on Instagram where she acknowledged that her opinion might cost her followers, but she decided to voice it anyway.
“If you don’t have Rs 5 lakh saved in your bank account right now, let me tell you what all you should not be doing,” Yadav said as she listed a series of activities she believed people without sufficient savings should avoid.
“You shouldn’t be going shopping. You shouldn’t be going on vacation. You shouldn’t be going on dates. You shouldn’t be buying coffee every day. You shouldn’t be binge-watching Netflix all day like life is already sorted. You haven’t earned that comfort yet,” she said.
Calling 2026 an era of unprecedented opportunity, Yadav argued that access to education and income streams has never been easier: “We are in 2026. You have free education, unlimited side hustle ideas and global income access. Never in history has it been this easy to learn and earn money. So, when you say, ‘I don’t know how to make more money,’ you are probably just choosing comfort over progress.”
While she admitted that “everyone has struggles” and “everyone has trauma,” she insisted that “healing cannot be your excuse.” Financial freedom, she said, requires personal responsibility. “If you want freedom, you have to accept responsibility. So, if you don’t have at least Rs 5 lakh saved, I am sorry, but this phase is not about romanticising your life. Your only job should be to cut distractions, build skills, increase your income, save aggressively, and invest consistently,” she added.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
