After getting clobbered for 100 runs in the first eight overs, Sri Lanka’s spinners got to work and restricted Australia to 181 — a competitive total on a tricky pitch.
The Lankans were dealt a blow early, with fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana suffering a hamstring injury and hobbling off the field after bowling just four deliveries.
However, Sri Lanka did not lose hope. They unleashed their army of spinners against the Aussies and kept them quiet through the final 10 overs.
