Rohit Sharma believes India's recent success in ICC tournaments could be the start of a strong phase for the national teams. The India captain praised both men's and women's teams and hopes the winning run continues.
Former India captain and star batter Rohit Sharma feels the country’s recent success in global tournaments could lead to a long period of dominance. The veteran opener said he hopes both the men’s and women’s teams continue their winning momentum.
India’s men’s team recently won their third T20 World Cup title and second in a row on March 8 in Ahmedabad, just months after the women’s side lifted their first-ever ODI World Cup in Navi Mumbai. Speaking at the launch of the T20 Mumbai League Season 4 in Mumbai on Saturday, Rohit said it was proud moment for Indian cricket.
“I feel very, very happy and proud to see what we've been seeing for the last couple of years now to come out with flying colours and achieve what we have achieved,” Rohit said.
Rohit also praised the women’s team for their historic World Cup win and said it was special to see Indian cricket doing well across teams.
“Not just men's team but also women's team to win that World Cup in Mumbai was fantastic to watch,” he said. “And recently now what the men's team did to win the T20 World Cup, what they did was phenomenal.”
The India captain added that the teams should now focus on carrying this momentum forward.
