Salman Ali Agha has been given a reprimand and a demerit point following his outburst after the controversial run out during the second ODI against Bangladesh on Friday, March 13.
Following his outburst after his controversial run-out during the second ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan, Salman Ali Agha has been reprimanded by the match referee for his actions. Following his dismissal in the game, Agha was seen throwing away his gloves and helmet in anger, forcing match referee Neeyamur Rashid to charge him for abusing cricket equipment.
The offence was classified as a Level 1 breach under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers the misuse or damage of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures during an international match.
Neeyamur said that they had to maintain neutrality while judging Agha, despite him having no previous history of committing the same offence. The Pakistan batter has been given a reprimand and a demerit point for his actions.
"The specific incident involved abusing cricket equipment on the ground while leaving the field. Regarding Salman Agha, he has no previous history of such behaviour. We have to maintain neutrality when we judge. Consequently, we have issued a reprimand and a demerit point,” said Neeyamur to the Daily Star Bangladesh.
The match referee also said that no charges would be filed over the heated exchange Agha had with the Bangladesh players, stating that he considered it a miscommunication and had already submitted his report on the matter to the ICC.
“We also considered the law, our training and playing conditions. We discussed the matter with the ICC before making the final decision. From a neutrality standpoint, we delivered the judgement,” he added.
