An old tweet by Ajit Pawar about travelling by plane has resurfaced after his untimely death in a plane crash on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ajit Pawar died after a plane he was travelling in crashed while attempting a landing in Baramati on Wednesday. After his untimely death, his 2024 tweet on travelling in plane has resurfaced.
"When we travel by helicopter or plane, if our plane or helicopter lands smoothly, we understand that the pilot is a woman," Pawar had said in a tweet to highlight NCP's woman empowerment push.
Two years later, Pawar and four others died in a plane crash. The pilots on board were Captain Sumit Kapoor, who had a flying experience of 16,000 hours, and Sambhavi Pathak.
VSR Aviation’s top official VK Singh said both pilots were based in Delhi and had logged extensive flying hours.
“The aircraft was absolutely fit to the best of our knowledge. There was no technical failure. It was very well maintained,” Singh told the media.
He said preliminary information suggested poor visibility may have played a role in the crash.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
