A man in Vadodara killed his wife over suspicion that she was having an affair. Vadodara police arrested the accused within hours of the incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday.
According to police, Bunty Solanki stabbed his wife, Rita, to death following a quarrel at their residence in Vadodara's Bakrawadi area. Rita, a mother of a 13-year-old son and a two-and-a-half-year-old son, died on the spot.
Solanki fled the crime scene after murdering his wife but was caught by the police within hours.
Preliminary investigation revealed long-standing tensions between the couple. Suspecting his wife of having an extramarital affair, the accused had also installed CCTV cameras at home to keep an eye on his wife.
Further investigation is underway to determine if there were any other motives behind the murder.
In a separate incident, a man allegedly chased his estranged wife at a bus stand and hacked her to death in broad daylight in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district on Sunday, before walking into a nearby police station and surrendering.

This moment comes days after the Supreme Court allowed Harish Rana to die with dignity – a historic first court-ordered case of passive euthanasia in India. The court acknowledged the medical opinion that Rana will never recover and that the tubes that feed him and keep him alive are only prolonging his pain.
