Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company is opening WhatsApp to any business of any size around the world with WhatsApp Cloud API. He also announced that WhatsApp Business users will also get multi-device support. "Today, I am excited to announce that we're opening WhatsApp to any business of any size around the world with WhatsApp Cloud API," said Zuckerberg. Interestingly, WhatsApp Cloud API was announced in beta in November 2021.
Zuckerberg announced that now any business irrespective of its scale and size can access WhatsApp’s services that is build directly on top of WhatsApp to customize their experience and speed up their response time to customers by using the WhatsApp Cloud API hosted by Meta. Zuckerberg says that the Cloud API will help more businesses connect with people and help more people message the businesses that they want to support big and small.
WhatsApp Cloud API will let businesses customise their experience on the platform. It would also enhance the speed and manner in which they interact with the customers. It will be economical as it would eliminate costly server expenses and the businesses will get access to new features. Along with that, the businesses can also provide new customizable click-to-chat links to customers. It would help businesses in drawing more customers.
WhatsApp users will have a seamless experience with the businesses on the platform. They will be able to have detailed conversation with the businesses about their products. WhatsApp has also paid special attention to the safety and privacy of users. The company said people will be in full control of the businesses they chat with and businesses cannot message people unless they have requested to be contacted.
As far as the pricing is concerned, WhatsApp has said that features will be optional and the business would not be forced to pay for the services if they do not wish to. We plan to offer these as additional, optional features for a fee in the WhatsApp Business app as part of a new premium service."
