After many months of testing, WhatsApp has finally rolled out a feature to let people hide their last seen status updates from specific people.

WhatsApp has been rolling out features one after the other to enhance the user experience. The messaging app was spotted working on a feature to let users hide their contacts from specific people. After many months of testing, WhatsApp has finally rolled out the feature. With WhatsApp’s new feature update, users will be able to hide their last seen and status updates from people they do not like.

Announcing the feature update on Twitter, WhatsApp noted, “To further protect your privacy online, we’re rolling out new options to your privacy control settings. Now you can select who from your contact list can see your Profile Photo, About, and Last Seen status.” Previously, users did not have the option of hiding their last seen and status updates from specific people. The users only had three options, such as “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and “Nobody”. Now users also have the “My Contacts except” option.

If you select the “Everyone” option before posting a status your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to all WhatsApp users. If you select ‘My Contacts’, your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to your contacts from your address book only. Similarly, if you select ‘My Contacts Except.., your last seen, profile photo, about, or status will be available to your contacts from your address book, except those you exclude and if you select ‘Nobody’, Your last seen, profile photo, about, or status won't be available to anyone.

Earlier, WhatsApp announced that it is rolling out a bunch of features for group calls. The app will now let users mute specific people on a call. However, it is unclear whether the right to mute will be given to all the participants or only the group admin. Similarly, users will also be able to message specific people during a call. The app has also rolled out a new indicator that will make it easier for users to see when more people join the call.

Prior to the group call feature, WhatsApp had also rolled out the ability to transfer their chat history, photos, videos and voice messages from Android to iPhone via Apple’s Move to iOS feature.
