WhatsApp has not made any official announcement but the strings indicate the possibility of the app rolling out either a new Wallet system or payments being made directly to the app.
WhatsApp could soon ask users making payments through the app to verify their identity. As per an APK teardown, the WhatsApp v2.21.22.6 beta version has new strings that hint towards a verification system. WhatsApp Pay was made available to users in India last year. As of now, WhatsApp does not require users to verify their identity and authenticates their payments through mobile numbers in India.
