West Bengal schools will reopen from February 3 for Classes 8 to 12. Also, offline classses will begin for college and university students.
West Bengal schools will reopen from Classes 8 to 12 after February 3, 2022, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a press conference on Monday. Colleges and universities in West Bengal will also conduct physical classes after February 03. She also announced that the state government has decided to lift some restrictions put in place to contain the spread of Covid-19.Apart from schools, other areas of public gatherings will also open, including cinema halls, sports activities areas, restaurants.
A few days ago, UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore released a statement for governments across the globe to keep schools open amid the Covid-19 pandemic as students cannot wait for more. “As the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues its spread all over the world, we urge governments to do everything in their power to keep it from further disrupting children’s education," said UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore.
Therefore, several states in the country have decided to reopen schools from February 1 or the first week of February. State governments have allowed the reopening of schools from next month in Telangana, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Chandigarh among others.
