Watch: Mehbooba Mufti burns Netanyahu, Trump posters amid pro-Khamenei chants

The demonstration, marked by anti-US and anti-Israel slogans, comes amid heightened restrictions in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday staged a protest in Srinagar, burning posters of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump over the ongoing US-Israeli military action against Iran and the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Supporters of the party carried posters of Khamenei and raised anti-US and anti-Israel slogans during the demonstration. Mufti also set ablaze a poster of Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier who died in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges and whose past associations with several high-profile figures, including Trump, have been widely reported.
She later shared a video of the protest on X, writing: “I stand in peace with those who stand in peace with you, and in opposition to those who oppose you, until the Day of Judgment,” alongside visuals of the posters being burned.
Mufti has been sharply critical of the attacks on Iran since the first day of hostilities. In a series of posts on X, she accused both the Government of India and the National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir of remaining silent on what she termed “blatant aggression” by the US and Israel.
“Just because GOI & NC government in Jammu & Kashmir have chosen to remain silent on the blatant aggression by US and Israel against Iran and the martyrdom of its Supreme Leader doesn’t mean that those who speak out are offenders to be booked under the law,” she posted on X.
In another post, she described the killing of Khamenei as a “deeply tragic & shameful point in history,” criticising what she called explicit and implicit support from some Muslim countries. “History will stand testament to who fought for justice & who helped the oppressors,” she added, offering prayers for the people of Iran.

This moment comes days after the Supreme Court allowed Harish Rana to die with dignity – a historic first court-ordered case of passive euthanasia in India. The court acknowledged the medical opinion that Rana will never recover and that the tubes that feed him and keep him alive are only prolonging his pain.
